Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelors’ degree
  • 5 years recruiting experience in a large law firm, or legal/professional services or other similar environment 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Thorough knowledge of NALP’s principles and standards 

Preferred Requirements:
  • Strong knowledge and professional relationship in the DC WALRA, NALP, Bar Associations and other organizations related to the legal industry 
  • Marketing experience and prior law firm experience in marketing and business development 
  • General knowledge and understanding of US Visa process and requirements
  • Experience with Applicant Tracking Systems 
  • Proficient in MS Office 
  • Ability to handle difficult situations professionally and tactfully
  • Ability to solve problems
  • Ability to multi-task and manage projects
  • Ability to treat confidential information in a professional manner

What will your day look like?
Responsible for all aspects of legal recruiting (including summer associates, law clerks, fall associates, LLMs, staff attorney, economists, lateral hires) in coordination with Recruiting Director, Hiring partner, OMP, Practice Group Leaders, and in concert with strategic growth plans for the Firm. Strong knowledge and professional relationships in the Washington, DC legal community; active in WALRA, NALP and, other organizations related to the legal industry.

You will organize local information for firm-wide legal recruiting projects (i.e., online summer directory, annual NALP forms, firm wide summer event, AmLaw/Vault surveys) as directed by the Legal Recruiting Director. You will work only with search firms who have signed our fee agreement.

Pre-screen all resume submissions for OCI as well as unsolicited submissions throughout the year. Initial and on-going point of contact for candidates. You will maintain job files and resumes according to legal recruiting procedures. Ensure data is entered into the Applicant Tracking System; completion of all firm forms and applications; oversees processing of conflicts and background reports, and completion of reference checks. Actively and creatively source candidates through job postings, LinkedIn, networking, use of career services, search firms, and referrals.

You will draft correspondence related to legal hires; coordinates relocation, moving, bar exam and other expenses/disbursements for candidates. Works closely with responsible partner regarding extension of offers, follow-up, and office set-up and integration upon arrival. Arrange on-campus interviews, job fairs, resume submissions; interview packets, and maintain good working relationship with career service offices. You will take the lead on 6-10 law schools or job fairs.

Develop summer program, including budget, social and training calendar, assignment process, mentors, and readers. Collects and maintains work product and evaluations. Team with summer program chairs and local Hiring Partner to ensure success of each summer associate, and prepare materials for end of summer offer meeting.

Monitor market trends and works with Director to keep Firm management apprised of trends in compensation, bonus and training and development areas, and serve on Hiring Committee and other committees as appropriate. You will prepare reports for Hiring Committee, Legal Recruiting Director as required, and maintain statistical data on recruiting and retention efforts.

Approve local recruiting related expenses and disbursements and tracks expenses, and implement orientation and integration programs for incoming summer associates, fall associates and laterals. Conduct exit meetings for departing summer associates. Maintain a general knowledge and understanding of employment standards and wage and hour laws.
