What will your day look like?
As Director of Knowledge Management for the firm, you will be responsible for creating and deploying a Knowledge Management program. You will develop policies, procedures, and systems necessary to launch a program that capitalizes on attorney knowledge and provides ongoing support to maximize the information sharing process. You will manage the operations, budget, and staffing of a geographically diverse team of knowledge management attorneys and subject matter specialists. This entails creating a metrics program to measure organizational benefits including the support of revenue generation and efficiency of attorney time. You will identify the best software programs to support knowledge management and innovation initiatives. You will also propose a budget to adhere to. By doing so, you will enhance legal service delivery, business development and marketing initiatives, and improve practice economics. You will secure leadership support and promote adoption of the KM program throughout the organization.

In addition, you will provide strategic oversight, day-to-day management, training, and guidance on the firm’s Knowledge Management program. You will work alongside practice groups, sectors, and business services departments (e.g. Professional Development, Pricing, Experience Management) that perform various aspects of KM work to clarify roles and responsibilities, realigning as necessary to support all knowledge base needs. Additionally, you are responsible for maintaining an understanding of the Knowledge Management programs being implemented across DLA Piper’s international offices and the potential for integration and collaboration.
