Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Real Estate, Business Administration, Management, or another closely related field
  • Eight years’ Commercial Real Estate Experience 
  • Five years’ managerial experience
  • Practical experience in real estate, project management, and facilities/operations management
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills
  • A hands-on approach to  managing multiple high-priority projects 
  • Strong negotiation skills 
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task and collaborate in a fast paced environment

Preferred Requirements:
  • Commercial Real Estate License

What will your day look like? 
As Director of Real Estate Operations, you are responsible for all real estate activities, partnering with firm leadership to determine DLA Piper’s real estate needs and ensure they align with overall real estate and operations strategy. This includes office and/or building location and feasibility analysis, preparing and coordinating new or replacement lease implementation, space acquisition and disposition, and leasing/sub-leasing for 30+ offices across the US, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. 

You will negotiate new leases, renewals, and terminations, ensuring all critical business terms and conditions are met. You will also be responsible for managing the development of scopes, schedules, and budgets for capital construction projects, while maintaining positive relationships with vendors, internal clients, and property managers. 

In addition, you will be managing space design and redesign to meet the needs of the firm, as well as construction and contract coordination. You will oversee the annual renewal and administration of the firm’s property, casualty, general commercial liability, and business continuity insurances—which includes annual renewal pricing, claims management, and certificate tracking. As director, you will work creatively to contain costs drivers, while improving quality and appearance.
