Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma
  • Two years prior docketing experience within a law firm setting or legal setting 
  • Strong knowledge of federal, bankruptcy and state court rules and procedures
  • Prior experience with an electronic docketing system, such as CompuLaw 
  • Strong written and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and thorough understanding or risk management issues related to docketing procedures
  • Ability to successfully manage stressful situations

Preferred Requirements:
  • Strong knowledge of docketing and business software
  • Knowledge of various practice areas such as Litigation, Bankruptcy, etc., in order to assure calendaring needs are identified and met to comply with risk management needs

What will your day look like?
In this exciting opportunity, you will provide daily calendaring, maintain court dockets and may serve as liaison between attorneys and courts. You will e-filing on the state and federal court level. However, in instances where e-filing practice or online resources are not an option, you will coordinate with court filing services or physically visit the court to perform the over the counter paper filing on the state and federal court levels.

You will coordinate the service of process of legal papers (e.g., subpoenas) in various States, and jurisdiction, coordinating the processing of certifications of documents with various foreign consulates and other task with other government agencies and provide daily monitoring of cases pending in various courts for decisions, and or calendared events (e.g., the Illinois Appellate Courts, New York Appellate Courts, etc).

In addition, the docketing specialist will also handle everyday procedural questions and situations which at times require detail research and time consumption. This function aids our attorneys in various ways such as: strategy of running a case, providing attorneys with templates to formulate court pleadings or providing a first year a form of mentoring on how navigate the court rules.
