Minimum Requirements:
  • J.D. from ABA accredited law school
  •  Admission to state bar (Texas, New York, Illinois, District of Columbia, or California)
  • 5 years’ experience as a corporate attorney in a law firm, or in a large in-house legal department
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Advanced proficiency in conducting research and drafting legal documents
  • Expert knowledge of the typical work flows and needs of attorneys in the practice
  • Demonstrated project management skills and the ability to analyze and solve problems in an effective and timely manner
  • Demonstrated passion for Knowledge Management (KM), technology, innovation, and change  Ability to work overtime when needed and travel occasionally
  • Familiarity with relevant legal technologies

What will your day look like?
As a Knowledge Management Attorney, you will be a member of the Knowledge department and will work closely with corporate partners and leadership to support the practice’s KM needs and initiatives by providing foundational knowledge tools and by optimizing relevant technology solutions.

To support the practice’s strategy, business and legal needs, you will formulate, assess and update the practice’s KM plan, and prioritize, manage, execute and regularly report on the KM projects. For example, you will identify and summarize relevant legal, market and industry developments. In addition, you will capture, analyze and share market trends and key data points, including by optimizing our experience database and by sharing information between attorneys and offices through practical communications.

You will also improve the efficiency of the practice by optimizing technology, including through artificial intelligence-based solutions, document automation and data analytics, and you will analyze, question and improve workflow processes to facilitate matter management. You will curate, create, update and/or make available relevant forms, checklists, precedents and other substantive content for the practice. Other responsibilities will include developing and implementing training programs for the practice, coordinating and overseeing other attorneys’ targeted KM contributions, and drafting external client alerts and other thought leadership on relevant developments.

You will collaborate with other business groups, including Innovation, IT, Professional Development, Business Development, Marketing and our international Knowledge group. Functioning as an ambassador for the Knowledge department, you will raise awareness and highlight the value of the firm’s KM program, increase engagement and use of the KM tools and information resources and encourage a knowledge-sharing culture. Additionally, you will participate in KM and practice meetings to share best practices in the Knowledge department and the practice.

Attorneys with significant experience may be considered for a Knowledge Management Counsel role.
