Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma
  • 4 years’ legal management or human resources management experience
  • Proven track record of support staff supervision
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills to interpret and resolve issues as they arise
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under pressure and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgement

What will your day look like?
In this role, you will work closely alongside the Office Administrator to supervise the various Legal Support Services Teams (LSST) in their respective office(s) to ensure a smooth workflow, workload coordination, and attorney-client service. You are responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the LSST which will include coordinating backup and overflow assistance as necessary. You will serve as a liaison between administrative departments, the LSST, and timekeepers.

You will monitor daily absences and arrange substitute staffing as needed, and approve paid time off requests. You are also responsible for approving time cards for all LSST members, this will include monitoring the overtime budget and ensuring it is kept to a minimum, as well as reporting all leave and FMLA issues to Human Resources, arranging coverage during any leave of absence.

As manager of this team, you will recruit and interview LSST members for open assignments, and assist in the training, orientation, and mentoring of new members on firm procedures and resources. You are responsible for monitoring LSST members’ performance, conducting evaluations, soliciting proper feedback throughout the year, and proposing annual salary increases. You will coach, mediate and document all LSST member performance, attendance and conduct issues as needed; bringing discipline issues to the attention of the Office Administrator and HR. You will also conduct LSST meetings as needed and coordinate training or similar events.
